The Internet age has changed the landscape of commerce forever. With millions of deals to be had just floating through cyberspace, there is no longer any need to clip coupons out of a newspaper or magazine. And now with the mobile revolution in full effect, these deals can be accessed right from the palm of the hand while on the go. It’s no surprise, then, that a number of mobile apps have sprung up that help people search for the best shopping deals around.
So in the interests of bargain hunting, here are the top free apps that can facilitate shopaholics on their quest for low prices.
ShopSavvy – Androind/iOS/Windows
This barcode scanner searches out the best prices from online as well as local brick-and-mortar establishments and presents them to the user via an easy-to-use interface. Simply use the smartphone to scan a barcode and watch the results pour in. A simple tap of the touchscreen then allows users to make purchases from major retailers, including Best Buy and Target. This app is ideal for those who want to compare and contrast prices on items during store visits.
Dealnews – android/iOS
This is an app from the popular deal-finding website Dealnews. Not only does this app allow for perusal of up-to-the-minute deals, it also provides price alerts when a recently viewed item hits an even lower price. The app also displays verified Black Friday deal info.
Decide – iOS
For many people, shopping for electronics or other specialized products can be a bit frustrating. This is due to the fact that oftentimes it seems like a camera or computer purchase was a great deal until a couple days later when the same product appears somewhere else at an even lower price. Decide takes all the guesswork out of shopping and provides comprehensive data and price predictions, which in turn helps the consumer to decide whether it’s best to hold off on a purchase until a lower price becomes available.
The Coupons App – Android/iOS
As straightforward as it gets, the coupon app is just that: a coupon app. Users can use this mobile application to find great deals and even free giveaways. The app even compares gas prices.
Shopkick – Android/iOS
Everyone loves customer rewards, but it can be difficult to know about or keep track of every current reward program out there. Shopkick allows the user to access reward deal right upon entering a store. Users can even use their phone as a scanner and scan products in order to find item-specific reward deals.
Amazon — Android/iOS/ Windows/BlackBerry
These days, the words “Amazon” and “Shopping” are practically synonymous. It makes sense, then, that the king of online commerce would have its own shopping app. This mobile application is ideal for amazon addicts, as it offers various deals, one-tap purchasing and even a bar-code scanner that performs price checks.
These are just a few must-have apps for those looking to get the most bang for their shopping buck. And while new apps come and go on a near daily basis, many of these apps – especially Amazon’s application – should be useful weapons in the smartphone shopper’s arsenal for the foreseeable future.

Thanks for this list of good apps. I’ve not tried any of these, and really need to. I just didn’t know which ones would really be helpful. The one that compares gas prices would be great, because I usually forget to look online before I leave the house. This will make my shopping much smarter!
